Accolade Heating distributes amorphous ribbon electric underfloor heating systems for domestic, industrial and commercial applications throughout the UK. Typically our systems are specified by:

Please note: Until further notice, all deliveries will be made 1 – 3 business days from dispatch.

Please bear the above in mind when ordering your systems.

The technology within our products is environmentally friendly and built around extremely thin amorphous metal ribbons enclosed within two layers of insulation material and uses infrared as the heating method. The system will not rust, degenerate or break down and demonstrates unprecedented strength and thermal efficiency due to:

  • Large heat transfer area of the ribbon - 10 x greater than an average wire based system
  • Low mass of the element
  • Lower working temperature
  • Lower insulation requirements
  • Faster heat up times

Our  indoor systems are used in homes, offices, hotels, retail premises etc. and fits below any floorcovering. Our outdoor systems are used to keep roads, car parks, bridges, roofs and sports stadia frost/snow free. Substantial savings in operating costs can be achieved compared to traditional electric or hydronic heating systems.

EPBD Directive

The UK government has announced a ban on connecting all new build properties to the gas grid by 2025. In addition, the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) expects that after 31 December 2020, all newly built properties will be Near Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB's)*. As a consequence of this legislation, heating a property is more likely to become an "All-electric" environment with fossil fuel replaced by sustainably generated electricity. Electric infrared heating is the perfect fit within this strategy as it offers a completely carbon-neutral solution. In terms of installation costs, operating costs and comfort, infrared heating is justified as a major contributor towards the United Kingdoms carbon-neutral objectives.

SAP 10 Standards

SAP (Standard Assessment Procedure) calculations are used to define the energy performance of dwellings in the UK - a key part of building regulation compliance.

One of the most significant factors of the new standard is to reflect more realistically the CO2 emmisions of electricity generation. With an average CO2 factor of 0.233 kgCO2/kwh, electricity generation will be positioned just behind gas generation (0.210 kgCO2/kwh). Using the SAP 2012 standards, it was assumed that electricity produced 2.4 times the CO2 of gas. The new SAP 10 standard drastically lowers this figure when taking into account the mix of sustainably generated electricity sources. This will provide more design options when considering heating systems that meet or exceed SAP 10 requirements.
