By laying insulation material between the floor and the Accolade electric underfloor heating mats, all heat generated by the system is forced upwards through the floor covering. This ensures the rooms ambient temperature is reached quicker and more efficiently, thus reducing the systems “on” time, and saving up to 50% on energy costs.

Accolade’s flexible insulation

Accolade’s flexible insulation is 5mm thick and constructed from polyethylene foam. The cross-linked, closed-cell structure provides excellent physical and mechanical characteristics and is ideal for insulating floors where carpet, laminate, wood or engineered board will be laid above the electric underfloor heating system. Flexible insulation is supplied in rolls 10m² (1.5m x 6.66m) or 20m² (1.5m x 13.33m) long.

Accolade’s Solid board insulation

Accolade’s Solid board insulation is 10mm thick and is supplied in sheets 1220mm x 600mm. Made from extruded polystyrene it is ideal for insulating floors where ceramic, slate, stone, marble, etc will be laid above the electric underfloor heating system. A high mechanical strength to weight ratio gives excellent spanning capabilities and can support weights of 30 tonnes per m².
